STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Released for publication Sunday morning, Aug. 15,1920; not earlier. S t .1363 • Federal Reserve Board Aug. 14,1920. BAM DEBITS Below is given the Federal Reserve Board's weekly statement of debits to individual account reported through the Federal Reserve Banks by over 150 of the country's more important clearing houses, Transactions cover the weekly periods ending Wednesday, Aug. 11 and Aug. 4 of the present year and Aug* 13, 1919. The statement closes with a recapitulation giving comparative figures by Reserve Districts for cities reporting complete data for the three weeks under review. Aggregate debits to individual account reported by 15*+ clearing houses totaled 8,3^+2 millions, or 4-97 millions less than the week before, smaller totals being shown for all the important centers, except St. Louis and Kansas City. Average debits for the 32 weeks of the year on the basis of 1^7 reporting centers outside of New York were 4-597 millions this year as com pared with 3772 mil-lions in 1919, shaving an increase of 21.8 per cent. For New York City alone the 32-week average for this year figures out 6 .8 per cent above the corresponding amount the year before.
