BiJJK DEBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS
Figures for bank debits shovm in the summary table belotor are not entirely com­
parable with those previously jiwbiishfd, They include data for 60 new reporting
centers and for a number of additional reporting, baiiks in 21 other centers. These
data have been reported since May 1q 2*2 but were not heretofore included in the sum­
maries by Federal Reserve Districts] Thp additional reporting centers have been
shown under the appropriate district^ W b the figures for the centers in which banks
were added have excluded such additional banks. Year ago comparisons on the revised
basis are shovm both in the summary and for the individual centers. Back figures
are attached beginning with May l9l;2.
During the past three months total debits v/ere 25*3 Per cent above the total re­
ported for the corresponding period a year ago; in New York City the increase was
36.3 per cent, and at 333 other centers the increase was I9.3 per cents,
