Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board "by
"banks in leading cities for the week ended August 7, aggregated $7,879,000,000, or
slightly below the total reported for the preceding week and 3* peij cent above the
total for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7*33**000,000, compared with $7**18,000,000
the preceding week and $5*428,000,000 the week ended August 8 of last year.
