R. 286 For immediate release STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System August 10, l$l-2 BANK' DEBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS Bank debits as reported by banks in 274 leading centers for the month of July aggregated 50*131 million dollars. During the past three months total debits for the same centers amounted to 148,581 million dollars or 11 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 4 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago, and at the 273 other centers there was an increase of 15 per cent.
