BANK DEBITS
August 1, 1938#

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended July 27, aggregated $6,918,000,000, or 15 percent below the total re­
ported for the preceding week and IV percent below the total for the corresponding
week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the- l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,374,000,000, compared with $7,528,000,000
the preceding week and $7,743,000,000 the week ended July 28 of last year*
