BANK DEBITS— -DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS

Bank debits as reported b y banks in leading centers for the w e e k ended
April 1 aggregated $11,707,000,000. Total debits during the 13 weeks ended April- 1
amounted to $ 11+1 ,286,000,000, or 13 per cent above the total reported for the corre­
sponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there w©,s an increa.se of
i+ per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago, and at the other
reporting centers th^ro was an increase of 18 per cent.
