For immediate release *

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended April 27, aggregated $7,976,000,000, or 5 percent above the total re­
ported for the preceding week, which included five business days in some of the re­
porting cities, and 9 percent below the total fbr the corresponding week of last
year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate tcJtal has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7,419,000,000, compared with $7(,012,000,000
the preceding week and $8,057,000,000 the week ended April 28 of last year*
