Fora FR—285 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For imediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System April 3, 1939 Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended March 29, aggregated $7,480,000,000, or 10 percent below the total re ported for the preceding week and 5 percent above the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the 1-41 cities for which a separate total has been main tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,907,000,000, compared with $7,690,000,000 the preceding week and $6,577,000,000 the week ended March 30 of last year.
