STATEMENT POR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System April 3, 1937 Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended 1.1arch 31, which included five business days' in some of the reporting cities^ aggregated $9,365,000,000, or 10 percent below the total reported for the preceding week and 11 percent below the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main?* tiined since January 1919 amounted to $8,689,000,000, compared with $9,756,000,00© the preceding week and ^9,942,000,000 the week ended April 1 of last year.
