Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended April 22, aggregated $8,745,000, 000, or 4 percent above the total reported
for the preceding week, wliich included five business days in some of the reporting
cities, and 25 percent above the total foj*. the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $3,130,000,000, compared with $7,811,000,000
the preceding week and $6,478,000,000 the week ended April 24 of last year.
