STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System April 24, 1937 Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended April 21, aggregated $9,406,000,000, or 6 percent abqve the total re ported for the preceding week and 8 percent above the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main— tained since January 1919 amounted to |8 ,661,000,000, compared with $8,163,000,000 ' the preceding week and <$8,130,000,000 the week ended April 22 of last year.
