LOANS OUTSTANDING

BY

INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $265 million at weekly reporting
. large commercial banks during the week ended September 27.
The principal net increases were $82 million in loans for retail trade, $79 million
in loans for other wholesale trade and $65 million in loans to manufacturers of other
nondurable goods.
The largest offsetting net decrease was $67 million in loans to manufacturers of
machinery.
