COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDDTG BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans decreased in eleven districts and in all but
three industrial categories for a net decrease of $687 million in weekly reporting large
commercial banks during the week ended January 24.
The principal net decreases were $106 million in loans to "other" public
utilities, $102 million to "all other" types of business concerns, $101 million to
manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, and $87 million to unclassified
borrowers.
