For immediate release January 29, 1964 H.12 COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOAMS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $217 million at weekly reporting member banks during the week ended January 22. The principal net decreases were $$8 million in loans to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, $30 million to manufacturers of textiles, apparel, and leather products, $18 million each to manufacturers of machinery and the retail trade, $17 million to the mining industry, which includes producers of petroleum and natural gas, and $58 million to unclassified borrowers. The outstanding loans and changes during the week and since mid-year are shown below; fourth column shows the changes during the comparable period last year.
