RESERVE FEDERAL statistical lu f-W Rt^ * release For Immediate release January 22, 1964 H.12 COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOAMS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $187 million at weekly reporting member "banks during the week ended January 15 • The principal net decreases were $108 million in loans to transportation, communication, and other public utilities, $4l million to the mining industry, which includes producers of petroleum and natural gas, $35 million to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, $26 million to the wholesale trade, $21 million to manufacturers of "other" nondurable goods, and $27 million in bankers' acceptances. The larger offsetting net increases were $4l million in loans to petroleum refiners and $27 million to manufacturers of transportation equipment. The outstanding loans and changes during the week and since mid-year are shown below; fourth column shows the changes during the comparable period last year.
