COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and Industrial loans increased a net of $191 million at weeklyreporting large commercial banks during the week ended February 15.
The principal net increases were $82 million in loans to manufacturers of
chemicals and rubber products, $65 million each to manufacturers of textiles, apparel,
and leather products, and to retail trade, and $53 million to manufacturers of
transportation equipment.
The larger offsetting net decreases were $50 million in loans to manufacturers
of food, liquor, and tobacco products, $4l million to "all other" loans, and $42 million
to unclassified borrowers.
