COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $100 million at
weekly reporting large Commercial banks during the week ended December 2.
The principal net increases were $97 million in loans to manufacturers
of transporation equipment, and $92 million to manufacturers of food, liquor,
and tobacco products.
The larger offsetting net decreases were $93 million in loans to
manufacturers of "other11 fabricated metal products, and $118 million to retail
trade.

COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL TERM LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Total business term loans were $31,883 million as of November. This was an
increase of $334 million over the comparable data a year ago and a decrease of
$143 million from the last Wednesday in October.

$

The principal net changes in term loans during November were $136 million in
loans to manufacturers of machinery, and $90 million to the mining industry
including petroleum and natural gas.

The total of all business term loans on November 25 represented approximately
& 48 percent of total of business loans outstanding at large commercial banks reporting
fin the series.
