COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

•

Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans decreased a n e t of $179 m i l l i o n a t weekly
r e p o r t i n g l a r g e commercial banks during the week ended A p r i l 22.
The p r i n c i p a l n e t d e c r e a s e s were $165 m i l l i o n in loans to r e t a i l t r a d e , and
$147 m i l l i o n t o u n c l a s s i f i e d borrowers.

The l a r g e r o f f s e t t i n g n e t i n c r e a s e s were $88 m i l l i o n in loans t o " a l l o t h e r "
types of b u s i n e s s concerns, and $65 m i l l i o n to manufacturers of chemicals and rubber
'products.
