BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM December 2, 19$k G.16 CONSUMER IKSTAUIENT CREDIT AT COLCJERCIAL BANKS OCTOBER 1951 .Consumer instalment credit held by commercial banks continued to decline -Slightly in October and-at tha end of the month amounted to 8,637 million dollars. The monthly decrease resulted from declines in each type of credit except personal loans. The total amount' outstanding v;as U per cent less than on the corresponding.date last year. ' The volume of credit extended during October amounted to- 887 million dollars, about 1 per cent less than a month ago and ? per cent less than a year earlier.
