Instalment accounts • receivable' showed about the usual small r i s e , i n
• September, and were n e a r l y three-fourtihs larger, than a year e a r l i e r . Collect i o n s on instalment accounts were ? per cent -higher .than i n August, and Accounted f o r 2h per cent of accounts outstanding on the f i r s t of the month,
- one p o i n t more than i n t h e preceding month. At t h i s r a t e of "repayment i n s t a l ment accounts would be l i q u i d a t e d i n about -seven months. '

amount from the end of August. C o l l e c t i o n s on charge accounts during"
September r o s e s l i g h t l y , and the c o l l e c t i o n r a t i o amounted t o 53 per cent as
compared with 51 per cent a month ago. The average c o l l e c t i o n period f o r
accounts outstanding i n September was n e a r l y 57 days, about the same-average
as f o r September 19U7•
