o-f r year ago. C.ollootions cn i n s t a l m e n t a c c o u n t s c o n t i n u e d t o i n c r e a s e , r e s u l t i n g in a c o l l e c t i o n r a t i o of 35 per c e n t , two p o i n t s h i g h e r than i n t h e
preceding month. I n s t a l m e n t "c count's were c o l l e c t e d , on the o v e r a g e , in
-nearly f i v e months , * s l i g h t l y longer p e r i o d t h a n f o r September l o s t - y e a r ,
Chnrge a c c o u n t s r e c e i v a b l e showed l e s s , than' t h e u s u a l s e a s o n a l r i s e
in September and a t t h e end of the' npnth'..were f i v e per c e n t l a r g e r t h a n "on t h e
c o r r e s p o n d i n g d a t e l a s t y e a r . C o l l e c t i o n s on charge a c c o u n t s remained a t t h e
August l e v e l end the c o l l e c t i o n . r a t i o was unchanged a t 63 per c e n t . The
average period charge a c c o u n t s were o u t s t a n d i n g was a p p r o x i m a t e l y 48 days,
a s compared w i t h n e a r l y 47 days in the c o r r e s p o n d i n g month of -1944'.
Both cash and c r e d i t s a l e s showed about t h e customary s e a s o n a l i n - '
c r c " s e in September, Cash s a l e s , which comprised 63 per c e n t of t h e t o t a l ,
continued somewhat l a r g e r than l a s t y e a r . . C h a r g e - a c c o u n t s a l e s were in about
t h e s ^ e volume as a y e a r a g o , w h i l e i n s t a l m e n t s a l e s were down f i v e per c e n t .
