RETAIL FURNITURE REPORT FOR AUGUST 1959
Instalment and chaxg? accounts receivable at furniture
stores at the end of August were 1 per cent and 6 per cent respectively above the July levels. Collections on instalment accounts
were 12 per cent of the amount outstanding at the beginning of the
year.
Total net sales at reporting stores increased 6 per cent
during August reflecting increases in cash and credit sales. Reported sales this year through August were 10 per cent above a year
earliert reflecting as in other recent months sales gains in each
Federal Reserve District.
