ST. LOUIS - Carol G. Crawley of Germantown, Tenn., was appointed to the board of
directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis' Memphis Branch.

Crawley was appointed to the unexpired portion of a three-year term that expires Dec. 31,
1997, by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. She

is president of Mid-South Minority Business Council, a non-profit corporation established
to identify and certify minority and women-owned businesses.

Active in the community, Crawley is a member of the National Minority Supplier
Development Council, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the
Memphis Kiwanis Club and the Urban League of Memphis.

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis has branches in Little Rock, Louisville and
Memphis. It serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District which includes all of Arkansas,
eastern Missouri, southern Indiana and Illinois, western Kentucky and Tennessee, and
northern Mississippi.

In addition to serving as a bank for depository institutions and the U.S. Government,
each Reserve Bank supervises state-chartered member banks and bank holding companies,
monitors economic conditions in the district and participates in formulating monetary
policy.
