Series J Savings Bonds Not Exchangeable for Series H Savings Bonds
After October 31* 19^9

To Paying Agents for Savings Bonds
in the Second Federal Reserve District:

The Treasury Department has asked us to advise you that after
October 31* 19&9* Series J savings bonds will no longer be eligible for exchange
for Series H savings bonds under the provisions of Treasury Department Circular
No. IO36 and, therefore, you should not accept Series J bonds submitted with
the exchange subscription form for Series H bonds (Form PD 3253) dated after
October 31* 19^9*
A revised exchange subscription form for Series H bonds will be
available to all paying agents in December.
Additional copies of this letter will be furnished upon request.
