The Depa r t m e n t of the T r e a s u r y has a c c e p t e d $8,006 m i l l i o n of
$16,372 m i l l i o n of tenders r e c e i v e d from the p u blic for the 2-year
notes, Series Z-1985, a u c t i o n e d today.
The notes w ill be issued
October 31, 1983, and m a t u r e O c t o b e r 31, 1985.
The interest rate on the notes will be 10-1/2%.
The range of
a ccepted c o m p etitive bids, and the c o r r e s p o n d i ng prices at the 10-1/2%
interest rate are as follows:

The $8,006 m i l l i o n of acce p t e d tenders includes $1,760
mill i o n of n o n c o m p e t i t iv e tenders and $6,246 m i l l i o n of compe t i t i v e
tenders from the public.
In a ddition to the $8,006 m i l l i o n of tenders a ccepted in the
auction process, $300 m i l l i o n of tenders was a w a rded at the average
price to Federal Reserve Banks as agents for foreign and international
m o n e t a r y authorities.
An a d ditional $636 m i l l i o n of tenders was
also accepted at the average price from G o v e r n m e n t accounts and Federal
Reserve Banks for their own ac c o u n t in exchange for m a t u r i n g securities.
