N ew Y o r k 10045 2 12 732-5700 March 18, 1970 To All Banks, and Others Concerned, in the Second Federal Reserve District: As a result of the postal strike in New York City, all mail service to and from the City has been suspended. Until such time as the mail service is resumed, please use alternative means of transportation to and communication with this Bank. In this connection, please note the following: (1) There may be delays in presentment of cash and noncash items, in return of dishonored items, and in forwarding advices of nonpayment of items payable in this District. (2) During the duration of the strike, those banks that normally send cash letters, remittances and return items to this Bank by mail should forward such items to the Buffalo Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, P. 0. Box 9&1, Buffalo, New York 1*1-240, for delivery to this Bank. Special arrangements are being made for forwarding cash letters normally sent by mail by this Bank. (3 ) We will continue to give credit for cash items from the date of receipt by the Head Office of this Bank in accordance with our time schedules, but we reserve the right to charge back any unpaid items at any time. (Over) 2 (*0 Any banks experiencing undue hardship "by reason of their inability to receive currency by mail from this Bank should telephone the Bank collect and ask for Extension 207. (5) If you wish to send securities to this Bank-- for redemptions, transfers, denominational exchanges, CPD or collateral or other purposes--or if you wish to send instructions regarding securities held at this Bank, please call this Bank collect and ask for Extension 3 2 3 . With respect to the shipment of securities from this Bank, we are making special arrangements for such shipment, but delays in receipt should be anticipated.
