Our Circular No. 9^+33, dated December 30, 1982, contained a preliminary outline of the elements of this program. This letter and its enclosures provide further information about service and fee changes, highlighting several improvements. The enclosures with this letter provide information about deposit deadlines and availabilities, prices, and transportation arrangements for this new program. The schedules are as follows: I. Check Services: Collection and Fee Schedules for In-Zone Depositors This schedule provides information about deposit deadlines, availabilities, and prices for the check services offered at each of the five offices in the Second District. II, Federal Reserve System: and Fee Schedules Summary of Check Services This schedule lists the prices to be charged for the collection of checks by Federal Reserve offices throughout the country. III. Check Services: Consolidated Shipment Program, Availability and Deposit Deadline Schedules This schedule contains the transportation surcharge, deposit deadlines, and credit availabilities for the collection of interterritory checks using our Consolidated Shipment Program from each of our Second District offices. IV. Federal Reserve System: Summary of Deposit Deadlines at Federal Reserve Offices This schedule provides information about the deposit deadlines for all check collection services available to interterritory depositors at each of the Federal Reserve offices. 2 With regard to Schedule I, although most of the services listed are currently offered by this Bank, the introduction of the new check collection program enables us to improve our service to you by offering later deposit deadlines for several basic services. In New York City, the deadline for unsorted city cash letters has been changed to 7 a.m., providing for collection of items two hours'later than at present. In addition, the deadlines for the New York office's group sort and all fine sort arrangements have been extended to 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., respectively. New premium deadlines for collection of city items after the regular city close-off hours have also been established at both the New York City office and the Buffalo Branch. New premium deposit deadlines are also being established for unsorted RCPC cash letters at the Buffalo Branch and our RCPC offices. These deadlines will allow you to deposit at least two and one half hours later than at present for same-day credit. We are also pleased to announce the introduction of consolidated shipment services from our Cranford, Jericho, and Utica offices. Two consoli dated shipment deadlines will be provided from each location. The first shipment will offer overnight collection for many city items, as well as an overnight premium collection service for RCPC items on the East Coast. The second shipment service provides for the collection of most city items on an overnight basis and for the collection of all RCPC items on a deferred basis. The basic pricing structure for the collection of interterritory checks will remain the same, but three modifications have been made to reflect more accurately the costs and benefits of the improved services. First, the peritem transportation fee, which is charged for using the Federal. Reserve's interterritory check transportation system (ITS), has been changed to reflect the varying costs of shipping to different Federal Reserve offices. Schedule III provides a listing of the transportation fees that will apply for sendings to each Reserve office. The new fee of O .b cents, 0.6 cents, or 0.8 cents will apply to both weekday and weekend shipments. A second change is the establishment of cash letter fees for all types of interdistrict cash letter deposits except fine sort. These fees, which range between $1.00 and $3.00, are listed in Schedule II along with the per-item processing charge for each product. Second District depositors will not be charged a cash letter fee for any deposits made at offices within the District. Finally, premium fees have been established by all offices for unsorted RCPC cash letters deposited after the regular 12:01 a.m deposit 3 deadline for which immediate availability will be offered. Regular prices will be charged for RCPC checks deposited after the regular close-off hours for credit the following day. Later premium deposit deadlines have also been established by many Reserve offices for city deposits. Overall, these improvements in our service offerings have been designed to make it more convenient for you to collect all of your checks on an overnight basis.
