CHECK OPERATIONS
Consolidations at EROC and Utica Office

To All Depository Institutions in the Second
Federal Reserve District, and Others Concerned:
Earlier this year, the Federal Reserve Bank o f New York announced plans to consolidate at our
East Rutherford O perations Center (EROC) all dow nstate New York check processing operations
and to consolidate at our Utica Office all check adjustm ents processing for the Second District. The
initial phase o f the transition to these consolidations is about to begin. In this connection, the Bank
asks your cooperation with the following:

• A s o f the close of business April 19, 1996, we will consolidate our processing of all City
(New York) forward and return item check collection deposits at the EROC. We will trans­
ship City work currently deposited at our Jericho Office to the EROC for processing. In
addition, we will transship to the EROC all forward and return item check collection
deposits currently sent to the Head Office. All o f this work will be processed by the EROC
w ith the exception of separately sorted Country (0215, 0216, 2215, and 2216 routing num ­
bers), RCPC (0214, 0219, 2214, and 2219 routing num bers), and G overnm ent C heck
deposits which we will send to the Jericho Office for processing until further notice.
• There will be no changes with respect to deposit deadlines or credit availability for your
deposits.

• Credit accounting entries for all City check deposit types — Unsorted Regular, Unsorted
Prem ium , Group I, Group II, and Fine Sort — will appear on your account statem ent (or
your correspondent’s account statem ent, if applicable) as having been functioned to your
account by the EROC.

• If you are classified as a New York City depository institution (those with routing num bers
0210, 0260, 2260, and 8 0 0 0 ), you will receive physical check presentm ents (“ in clear­
ings”), Payor Bank Services (if you are a Payor B ank Service custom er), and any related
debit accounting entries from the EROC.
• The EROC will continue to send M anhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn Collection A rrangem ent
and Thrift Institution Collection A rrangem ent (M B & B and TICA) check presentm ents to
our Head Office in New York for pickup by participants of these collection arrangem ents.
A lso, the EROC w ill continue to send N ew York C learing H ouse m em bers and City
C ollection Departm ent check presentm ents to the New York Clearing House in New York

for pickup by this association’s participants. If you prefer, special arrangem ents for check
presentm ent pickups at the EROC may be m ade by contacting either Deanna Nodine at
(201) 531-3405, or Reggie Skowronski at (201) 531-3350.

Travelers check numbers 8000-0002-2, 8000-0006-4, 8000-0010-3. 8000-0011-6, and 8000-0013-2.
