FEDERAL RESERVE B A * OF MEW YORK [ C ircular No. 9998 February 4 , 1986 1 Check Collection Procedures on Lincoln’s Birthday To All Depository Institutions in the Second Federal Reserve District, and Others Concerned: As indicated in our Circular No. 9893, dated July 9, 1985, all offices of this Bank (including our Cranford Office) will be closed on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 17, 1986, and will be open on Lincoln’s Birthday, Wednesday, February 12, 1986. Based on our survey, the great majority of depository institutions located in New York, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands will also be open on Wednesday, February 12, while most of the deposi tory institutions located in New Jersey will be closed on that day. Cash items and noncash items that are payable by, at, or through depository institutions in New Jersey and that otherwise would be presented by the Cranford Office of this Bank on that day will be presented on the next business day, February 13, 1986. In addition, credit for these items, which would normally be given on Wednesday, February 12, will be given on Thursday, February 13. Also, delays will occur in the return of unpaid items and in the forwarding of advices of nonpayment of such items. For cash and noncash items other than those payable by, at, or through depository institutions in New Jersey, we will give credit in accordance with our published time schedules.
