CONSUMER ADVISORY COUNCIL
Request For Nominations

To All Depository Institutions, and Others Concerned,
in the Second Federal Reserve District:
T he B oard o f G ov ern o rs o f the F ederal R eserve System is seeking n o m inations from the p ublic
fo r nine ap p o in tm en ts to its C o n su m er A d visory C ouncil. T he follow ing is quoted from the text o f
the statem en t issued by the B oard o f G overnors:
Nominations should be submitted in writing to Dolores S . Sm ith, Assistant Director, Division o f
Consumer and Community A ffairs, Board o f Governors o f the Federal Reserve System , W ashington,
D .C . 2 0 5 5 1 , and must be received no later than August 10, 1984.
Nominations should include the name, address, and telephone number o f the nom inee, past and
present positions held, and special knowledge, interests, and experience related to consumer financial
matters.
The Consumer Advisory Council was established by Congress in 1976, at the suggestion o f the
Board, to advise the Board on the exercise o f its duties under the Consumer Credit Protection A ct and on
other consumer-related matters. The Council meets three times a year.

ACTGON: Solicitation of nominations for
membership on the Board’s Consumer
Advisory Council.
SUMMARY: The Board is asking the

public to nominate qualified individuals
for nine appointments to its Consumer
Advisory Council. Nominations should
include the name, address, and
telephone number of the nominee,
together with information about past
and present positions held, and special
knowledge, interests or experience
related to consumer credit or other
consumer financial services. It is
contemplated that the Board will
announce its selection of new members
by year-end.

SUPPLEMENTARY GNFORMATOON: The
Consumer Advisory Council was
established by the Congress in 1976 to
advise the Federal Reserve Board on the
exercise of its duties under the
Consumer Credit Protection A ct and on
other consumer-related matters. The
Council by law represents the interests
both of consumers and of the financial
community. Members serve three-year
terms that are staggered to provide the
Council with continuity .
Nine new members will be selected
this year to replace members whose
terms expire on Decem ber 31,1984. The
Board expects to announce its selection
of new members by year-end. The Board
is particularly interested in candidates
who are fam iliar with issues in the area
for consumer credit and other consumer
financial services. In making the
appointments, the Board also will seek
to complement the qualifications of
continuing Council members in terms of
affiliation and geographic
representation.
The Council meets in Washington,
D.C. three times a year. Council




members are paid $100 per day for
participating in the two-day meetings
and for travel time. The Board also pays
travel expenses.

received no later than August 10,1984.
Nominations should include the name,

be made available for public inspection
and copying upon request, except as
provided in § 261.6(a) of the Board's
Rules Regarding Availability of
Information.
