FEDERAL RESERVE BANK
OF NEW YORK

No. 8 9 4 5
[Circular
November 3, 1980

B A H A M IA N P O ST A L M O N E Y O R D ER S

To All Banks in the Second Federal Reserve District:

By agreement between the United States Postal Service (USPS) and
the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, domestic (U.S.A.) Bahamian postal
money orders will be accepted for payment by the USPS. Therefore, banks
may deposit such money orders with us in the same manner as U.S. postal
money orders.
The USPS has informed us that the Bahamian postal authority has
revised the color and format of its domestic postal money orders. Formerly,
they were printed on plain blue paper. The new money order contains a seal
and is printed on white paper stock with light blue lines. For your
information, a photocopy of the revised format is printed on the reverse side
of this circular. These revised Bahamian money orders are negotiable.
If you have any questions concerning the handling of these money
orders, please contact your local Postmaster or call Kenneth Duss of our
Check Processing Department (Tel. No. 212-791-5746).
