Change in Procedure for D eposit of Checks Dratvn on Buffalo Territory Banks

To A ll W estern N ew Y ork Regional Check Processing Center Participating Banks,
and O thers Concerned:

Effective October 15, 1979, the Buffalo B ranch of this Bank will no longer accept cash letters
in which cash items draw n on Buffalo Clearing H ouse banks (w ith routing symbols 0220, 0290 and
2220) are commingled with cash items draw n on banks participating in the W estern New Y ork
Regional Check Processing Center (w ith routing symbols 0223 and 2223). This change in policy
will bring the Branch into conform ity with the practice generally followed throughout the country
not to commingle city items with R C P C and country items; the policy will apply to machineable and
nonmachineable cash letters.
Fully M IC R qualified and M IC R computer acceptable items with routing symbols 0220, 0290
and 2220, checks draw n on the U nited States T reasury, and postal money orders may continue
to be deposited in a cash letter for immediate credit until 8:00 a.m. M onday through Friday.
Fully M IC R qualified and M IC R computer acceptable items with routing symbols 0223 and 2223
may be deposited for immediate credit until 12:01 a.m. Monday through Friday. Nonmachineable
items may be deposited, separately sorted, until 7 :00 a.m. Monday through Friday, for one day
deferred availability. P articipating banks in the W estern New York R C P C with a daily average
volume not exceeding 5,000 amount encoded items may continue to deposit a mixed cash letter until
1 2 :01 a.m. Monday through Friday at the R C PC , fo r credit availability in accordance with our time
schedules.
A ttached is a revised Appendix No. 2-A to our O perating Circular No. 5, reflecting this change.

ing Center at the Buffalo Branch will be given, subject to applicable closing times
and to sorting and other requirements, as shown in the schedule below. Credit for
other deposits will be given in accordance with Appendix No. 2 to Operating Cir­
cular No. 5.
