PROCEDURES FOR SECURITIES TRANSACTIONS
Extension of Time for Comment on Proposal to Amend Regulation H

To All State Member Banks in the Second Federal
Reserve District, and Others Concerned:

Following is the text of a statement issued by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System:
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System has extended the time for comment on a proposal
announced last January 31 to require State member banks that make certain securities transactions for customers
to provide confirmations of and to maintain records of the transactions.
Comment must now be received by May 1, 1978 (instead of March 31 as previously).

Printed below is the text of the Board’s Order in this matter. The proposal to amend Regulation H
was sent to you with our Circular No. 8273, dated February 10, 1978. Comments on the proposal may
now be submitted until May 1, 1978, and may be sent to our Regulations Division.

CERTAIN SECURITIES TRANSACTIONS EFFECTED BY STATE MEMBER BANKS
Extension of Comment Period
AGENCY: Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve
System.

ACTION: Extension of comment period.
NOTICE: The Board on January 30,1978, invited public
comment on a proposed rule that would, if adopted, re­
quire that State member banks that effect certain secu­
rities transactions for customers provide confirmations
of and maintain records with respect to such transac­
tions (43 Fed. Reg. 5006 (1978)). The Secretary of the
Board, pursuant to delegated authority, by this notice
extends for thirty days the comment period on that rulemaking proposal at the request of the American Bankers
Association, Washington, D.C.
