New Counterfeit
To all Banks, Trust Companies and Savings Banks
in the Second Federal Reserve District:

The Treasury Department in its circular letter No. 561 describes a new counterfeit $20 gold certificate as follows:
''Series of 1922; check letter ' C ; plate number 656; H. V. Speelman,
Register of the Treasury; Frank White, Treasurer of the United States;
portrait of Washington.
"This counterfeit is apparently printed from well executed lithographic
plates on bleached genuine paper. The printing on the face of the note is
blotchy obliterating many of the fine lines of the lathework and in the background behind the portrait. Great care should be exercised in handling notes
of this issue as the counterfeit is calculated to deceive even careful handlers
of money."
Very truly yours,

BENJ. STRONG,

Governor.
