FE D ER A L R ESER V E BANK O F NEW YORK r Circular No. 6 6 5 6 "1 L December 16, 1970 -J Holidays to be Observed by This Bank Effective January 1, 1971 To the Member Banks and Nonmember Clearing Banks of the Second Federal Reserve D istrict: Section 24 of the General Construction Law of New York has been amended, effective January 1, 1971, by changing the dates of the public holidays known as W ashington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Columbus Day, and V eterans’ Day. Pursuant to such section as amended, this Bank, including its Buffalo Branch, will be closed, effective January 1, 1971, on the following public holidays: January 1 New Y ear’s Day February 12 Lincoln’s Birthday W ashington’s Birthday Third Monday in February Memorial Day Last Monday in May July 4 Independence Day F irst Monday in September Labor Day Second Monday in October Columbus Day Fourth Monday in October V eterans’ Day Election Day Tuesday following first Monday in November Thanksgiving Day Fourth Thursday in November Christmas Day December 25 In 1971,, W ashington’s Birthday will fall on Monday, February 15, resulting in the closing of this Bank, including its Buffalo Branch, for four consecutive days. If, in any year, New Y ear’s Day, Lincoln’s Birthday, Independence Day, or Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, this Bank will be closed on the following Mon day. In addition, this Bank, including its Buffalo Branch, will continue to be closed (a) on each Saturday, as indicated in paragraph 1(a) of our Operating Circular No. 7, Revised effective February 17, 1967, and (b) on each day ap pointed by the President of the United States or by the Governor of the State of New York as a day of general thanksgiving, general fasting and prayer, or other general religious observance pursuant to section 24 of the General Con struction Law of New York.
