FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF N E W YORK r Circular No. 6 4 8 0 1 1 January 29, 1970 J Greater Kansas City Clearing House Association To the Member Banks and Nonmember Clearing Banks o f the Second Federal Eeserve District: The Federal Eeserve Bank of Kansas City has informed ns that, as a result of the establishment of the Greater Kansas City Clearing House Association, which commenced operation on December 1, 1969, checks drawn on an additional 57 banks will be handled by the Kansas City Reserve Bank as immediate-credit items, effective January 26, 1970. The new clearing arrangement includes 97 participating banks, 40 of which were members of the former Kansas City, Mo. and Kansas City, Kan. clearing houses, and 57 of which were formerly classified as deferred-credit points. A list of the 97 participating banks is printed on the reverse side of this circular. The banks that were formerly members of the Kansas City, Mo. and Kansas City, Kan. clearing houses are shown in the list under routing symbol 1010, and the 57 additional banks, under routing symbols 1011 and 1012. The routing symbols of such additional banks will be changed to 1010 as check stocks are replaced. Until present check stocks are replaced, checks bearing routing symbols 1011 and 1012 may be commingled in immediate-credit cash letters by our directsending banks, or in one-day deferred-credit cash letters by banks that deposit such letters with our Head Office or Buffalo Branch. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has also informed us that, incident to the above change, its closing hour for immediate-credit items has been changed from 10:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., Monday through Friday.
