New Counterfeit $5 Federal Reserve Note
To all Banks, Trust Companies and Savings Banks
in the Second Federal Reserve District:

The Treasury department in its circular letter No. 538 describes a new counterfeit $5 Federal Reserve note as follows:
* * On the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; check letter ' C'; plate
number indistinct; W. G. McAdoo, Secretary of the Treasury; John
Burke, Treasurer of the United States; portrait of Lincoln.
"This counterfeit is apparently printed from zinc-etched plates, on
two pieces of paper, between which some blue silk threads have been
distributed.''
The letter from the Treasury states that the workmanship on this counterfeit is
so poor that it does not warrant a more detailed description.

Very truly yours,
BENJ. STRONG,

Governor.
