New Counterfeit $5 Federal Reserve Note
To all Banks, Trust Companies and Savings Banks
in the Second Federal Reserve District:

The Treasury Department in its circular letter No. 505 describes a new counterfeit $5 Federal Reserve note as follows:

" O n the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Ohio; check letter ' C ; plate
number indistinct; A. W. Mellon, Secretary of the Treasury; Frank White, Treasurer
of the United States; portrait of Lincoln.
" This is a very crudely etched production, retouched with a graver. All of the
work on the bill plainly indicates that it was made by an amateur.
