STATE OF HAWAII IN TWELFTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT

To A ll Banks, and Others Concerned,
in th e Second Federal R eserve D istrict:

W e have been advised by the B oard o f G overnors o f the F ederal R eserve System that it
has taken the follow in g action:
In view o f the admission of Hawaii to statehood, as a result o f the issuance o f the President’s
proclamation o f A ugust 21, 1959, in accordance with the provisions o f the A ct o f March 18, 1959
(73 Stat. 4 ), and, acting pursuant to section 17 o f that A ct, the B oard o f Governors o f the Federal
Reserve System has readjusted the Federal Reserve Districts so as to include the State o f H awaii in
the Tw elfth Federal Reserve District, effective A u gust 21, 1959. W ithin the Tw elfth D istrict the State
o f Hawaii will be included in the zone served by the H ead Office.

Since the adm ission o f H aw aii to statehood has rendered inappropriate certain language
in the B o a r d ’ s Regulations E , G, H, I, J, L, and U, the B oa rd has also acted to amend those
regulations in the follow in g respects, effective A ugust 21, 1959:
Section II, paragraph 2 o f Regulation E ; Footnote 1 o f Regulation H ; and Footnote 1 o f Regula­
tion I are amended by eliminating therefrom the words “ continental United States” and substituting
therefor the words “ States o f the United States and the D istrict o f C olum bia” .
Footnote 1 o f Regulation G and Footnote 1 of Regulation J are amended by eliminating there­
from the words ‘ ‘ H awaii ’ ’ and ‘ ‘ Puerto R ico ’ ’ and by substituting fo r the words ‘ ‘ continental United
States” the words “ States o f the United States and the D istrict o f Colum bia” . The “ Designations o f
Federal Reserve Districts fo r Banks in Territories, Dependencies, etc. ’ ’ issued pursuant to Footnote 1
o f Regulation G and Footnote 1 o f Regulation J are amended b y deleting the paragraphs referring
to Hawaii.
Regulation L is amended by eliminating from Footnote 3 (b ) thereof the words “ the Philippine
Islands” and “ H aw aii,” .
Regulation U, section 221.2 (i) is amended by eliminating therefrom the number “ 4 9 ” .

the B oard o f Governors o f the Federal Reserve System readjusted

the B oard o f Governors o f the Federal Reserve System readjusted
the Federal Reserve Districts so as to include the State o f Hawaii in

amended by the F irst and Second Supplements thereto dated July 15,
