Appointment of Directors

To M em ber Banks in the Second Federal E eserve D istrict :

The Board o f Governors of the Federal Reserve System has redesignated J o h n
E. B i e r w i r t h as Chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank
of New York and Federal Reserve Agent fo r the year 1959. Mr. Bierwirth, who is
Chairman of National Distillers and Chemical Corporation, New York City, was a
Class B director o f the Bank from March 20, 1953 through December 31, 1956. He
was appointed a Class C director of the Bank in January 1957, and has served as
Chairman and Federal Reserve Agent since then.
The Board o f Governors has also reappointed F o r r e s t F . H i l l , Vice President
of The Ford Foundation, New York City, as Deputy Chairman for the year 1959.
Mr. Hill has been a Class C director o f the Bank since January 1955 and has served
as Deputy Chairman since that time.
The Board o f Governors has appointed W h i t w o r t h F e r g u s o n as a director of
the Buffalo Branch o f this Bank fo r the three-year term beginning January 1, 1959.
Mr. Ferguson is President of the Ferguson Electric Construction Company of
Buffalo, New York. He succeeds, on the Branch board, R a l p h F. P e o , Chairman and
President of Houdaille Industries, Inc., Buffalo, New York, who served as Chairman
of the Branch board during 1958.
The board of directors o f the Federal Reserve Bank o f New York has appointed
A . F u l l e r , President of The Citizens National Bank o f Wellsville, Wellsville,
New York, as a director o f the Buffalo Branch for the three-year term beginning
January 1, 1959. He succeeds, on the Branch board, L e l a n d B . B r y a n , President,
First National Bank and Trust Company of Corning, Corning, New York.

The board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York also has
reappointed J o h n W . R e m i n g t o n , President, Lincoln Rochester Trust Company,
Rochester, New York, as a director o f the Branch fo r the three-year term beginning
January 1, 1959. Mr. Remington has been a director o f the Branch since Januarv 1,
1956.
The board of directors o f the Federal Reserve Bank o f New York has designated
E. O l s o n o f Rochester, New York, as Chairman of the board o f directors
o f the Buffalo Branch fo r the year 1959. Mr. Olson has been a director o f the Branch
since January 1, 1957. He is President o f Taylor Instrument Companies, Rochester,
New York.
