To A ll Banking Institutions in the
Second Federal E eserve D istrict:

The Treasury Department has asked us to advise you that pursuant
to Public Law 183, 85th Congress, approved August 28, 1957, checks
drawn on the Treasurer of the United States are now payable upon
presentment without limitation as to time.
We understand from the Treasury Department that several regula­
tions containing references to the time within which Government
checks will be paid are being amended.
