Resignation o f Allan Sproul

To all Banks and Trust Companies, and Others Concerned,
in the Second Federal Reserve D istrict:

The B oard of D irectors of the F ederal Reserve Bank of New York
announces w ith deep re g re t that A l l a n S p r o u l , P resident of the Bank
since Jan u a ry 1, 1941, has resigned effective Ju n e 30, 1956. Mr. Sproul
will be on leave beginning June 1, 1956.
To complete the unexpired portion of Mr. S p ro u l’s present term
of office, ending F eb ru ary 28, 1961, the directors have appointed
A l f r e d H a y e s , and the B oard of Governors of the Federal Reserve
System has approved the appointm ent. Mr. Hayes, who is a t present
Vice P resident in charge of the Foreign Division of The New York
T rust Company, will assume his duties as P resident of the Federal
Reserve Bank of New York on A ugust 1, 1956.
