F E D E R A L RESERVE B A N K O F N E W YORK [ C i r c u l a r No. 404] September 29,1921J New Counterfeit $5 Federal Reserve Note To all Banks, Trust Companies and Savings Banks in the Second Federal Reserve District: Attention is directed to a new $5 Federal Reserve note reported by the Secret Service in Treasury Department circular letter No. 476, as follows: "On the Federal Reserve bank of Minneapolis, Minnesota; check letter ' C ; plate No. 16; W. G. McAdoo, Secretary of the Treasury; John Burke, Treasurer of the United States; portrait of Lincoln. "This counterfeit is printed from photo-etched plates, on a single piece of poor quality paper containing no silk threads nor imitation of them. A more detailed description of the counterfeit is deemed unnecessary in view of the fact t h a t the man responsible for making and circulating it is under arrest in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the plates, materials and apparatus necessary to its manufacture, including approximately 400 of the counterfeit notes, have been captured."
