F E D E R A L RESERVE BANK O F NEW YORK Cash Department T Circular No. 273 1 [ April 28, 1920 J New Counterfeit $10 Federal Reserve Note To all Banks, Trust Companies and Savings in the Second Federal Beserve District, Banks A new counterfeit $10 Federal Reserve Note is described by the Secret Service Division of the Treasury Department, Washington, in its Circular Letter N o . 443, as follows: " O n the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Illinois, Check Letter 'C Plate Number indistinct, W. G. McAdoo, Secretary of the Treasury, John Burke, Treasurer of the LTnited States, portrait of Jackson. " T h e face of this counterfeit is a photographic print. The back ap- pears to be from zinc etched plates. " R e d and blue ink lines appear on the face of the note in imitation of the silk fibre. The number of the specimen at hand is G29506909A. " T h e face and hair of the Jackson portrait are too white, owing to the absence of many of the fine lines of the engraving. The background behind the portrait has the appearance of solid color instead of the fine crossed line work.
