FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF NEW YORK Fiscal Agent of the United States f Circular No. 2 5 3 1 1 I October 28, 1942 J PURCHASE OF WAR SAVINGS BONDS AND STAMPS FOR CHRISTMAS GIVING To Certain Issuing Agents in the Second Federal Reserve District Qualified for sale of United States War Savings Bonds, Series E: The Treasury Department plans to conduct a nation-wide campaign to urge the purchase of W a r Savings Bonds and Stamps for Christmas giving. In addition to general publicity through magazines, newspapers, radio, posters, etc., the Department will prepare two printed pieces which it will request issuing agents to distribute: 1. — a small circular, size 5}i" x 3^4", suitable for enclosure in end-of-month bank statements, with Christmas Club checks, outgoing mail, etc. 2. — a Christmas bond envelope, size 8" x A 1 //', bearing a four-color illustration featuring "The Present with a Future." Will you kindly indicate on the enclosed post card your estimate of the number of each of these pieces which you will require for distribution to your customers and others, and return it to us at your earliest convenience.
