FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF NEW YORK Fiscal Agent of the United States Circular No. 2126 September 26, 1940 SUBSCRIPTION BOOKS TO CLOSE SEPTEMBER 27, 1940 On Offering of United States of America 2 Percent Treasury Bonds of 1953-55 To all Banking Institutions and Others Concerned in the Second Federal Reserve District: In accordance with instructions received today from Secretary of the Treasury Morgenthau the subscription books will close at the close of business, Friday, September 27, 1940, on the current offering of United States of America 2 percent Treasury Bonds of 1953-55, dated and bearing interest from October 7, 1940, due June 15, 1955, in payment of which only Treasury Notes of Series C-1940, maturing December 15, 1940, may be tendered. Any subscription addressed to a Federal Reserve Bank or Branch and placed in the mail before midnight, Friday, September 27, 1940, as evidenced by postoffice cancellation, will be considered a timely subscription.
