PREPAYMENT OF CERTIFICATES OF INDEBTEDNESS To BANKS, TRUST COMPANIES AND BANKERS IN DISTRICT #2: DEAR SIRS: In accordance with instructions just received from the Treasury Department we beg to advise you of the call made by the Secretary of the Treasury today for prepayment on December 19, 1918 of the issue of United States Treasury Certificates of Indebtedness. Series 4E, dated September 3, 1918, and m a t u r i n g J a n u a r y 2, 1919. Interest on certificates of this issue will cease to accrue on December 19, 1918. The Secretary's formal announcement is as follows: "Notice to holders of United States Treasury Certificates of Indebtedness of Series IV-E, dated September 3, 1918 and maturing January 2, 1919. All United States Treasury Certificates of Indebtedness of Series IV-E, dated September 3, 1918, and maturing January 2, 1919, are hereby called for redemption on December 19, 1918, at par and accrued interest pursuant to the provision for such redemption contained in the certificates. On December 19, 1918, interest on all certificates of said series will cease to accrue. W. G. McADOO, Secretary of the Treasury December 5, 1918."
