New Design Quarters In Commemoration of Bicentennial Anniversary
of Birth of George Washington
Limited Supply Now Available for Distribution

To each Bank and Trust Company in the
Second Federal Reserve District:

To commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of George
Washington the Secretary of the Treasury has changed the design of the twentyfive-cent piece so that the portrait of George Washington appears on it as authorized in the Act of Congress approved March 4, 1931, and the Treasury Department
has furnished this bank with a limited amount of such twenty-five-cent pieces for
distribution in the Second Federal Reserve District. The Act of Congress provides
that the new coins shall be issued for general circulation beginning in 1932, the year
of the said bicentennial anniversary.
In order that each bank in this district may receive an equitable share of the
small amount of these coins on hand, an allotment of them has been made and the
amount set aside for your institution is stated below. Beginning August 1,1932, the
amount requested will be forwarded to a member bank upon receipt of instructions
to charge its reserve account, or to a nonmember bank upon receipt of immediately
available funds.
Please do not include orders for the new design quarter in other orders sent
to this bank for coin or currency.
