Robert C. Holland resigned, effective June 11, as Secretary
of the Federal Open Market Committee in order to assume his
responsibilities as a member of the Board of Governors. To replace Mr. Holland, I recommend that the Committee elect Mr.
Arthur Broida to serve as Secretary.
Mr. Charles Partee will continue as Senior Economist
of the FOMC and will now also informally assume the duties,
heretofore performed by Mr. Holland, of chief officer for the
coordination of the FOMC staff's activities. Mr. Axilrod will
serve as Mr. Partee's deputy in this latter role.
