A special anniversary
program has been planned around the theme
“What Will Be the Most Profitable Agricultural
Loans in 1961?” The theme will be developed
by panels of commodity experts and agricul
tural lending officers of commercial banks. Spe
cial emphasis will be placed on dairy, cotton,
cattle, and machinery loans. The featured
speaker at the banquet will be Earl Coke, Vice
President and Agricultural Representative of
the Bank of America, San Francisco, California.
The outlook for 1961 will be discussed by a
nationally recognized economist, and emphasis
will be placed upon next year’s prospects in the
Southwest. Government loan programs are im
portant considerations in extending farm loans.
An administrative officer of the United States
Department of Agriculture will discuss new
developments and policies in governmental
programs.

Federal marketing orders
have risen in importance in
Texas in the past few years
and are influencing manage
ment decisions and lending
practices. The effect of Fed
eral marketing orders on
bank lending practices will
be discussed by the man
ager of a large enterprise
operating under a market
ing order.

,

New Federal regulations
concerning the use of chemicals in crop and
livestock production are of tremendous impor
tance to farmers and bankers. A panel of spe
cialists will discuss the use of fungicides, herbi
cides, insecticides, and growth regulators in the
production of crops and livestock products.
Another panel will discuss various aspects of
using farm equipment profitably in 1961.
Among those participating in the farm equip
ment discussion will be an agricultural engineer,
a crop production specialist, a farm machinery
distributor, a tax specialist, and a farmer.
A prize-winning group of 4-H Club members
will give a farm management demonstration
emphasizing many of the factors necessary for
operating an efficient farm. Harley Bebout,
Department of Agricultural Economics and
Sociology at Texas A. & M. College, is han
dling room reservations.
